A crash took the life of a college basketball player from Atlanta. The one-car accident occurred in Dawson County on Ga. 400 on September 21, according to officials at the University of North Georgia.
Reports say that there were no other vehicles involved in the accident. It was also found that there were no other passengers in the vehicle. The 19-year-old graduate of Lambert High School was a sophomore at North Georgia. The accident occurred just after 1:00 a.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The Ford Mustang driven by the college student was traveling south on Ga. 400. The car left the road and traveled on the west shoulder for more than 200 feet before it struck a utility pole. The vehicle then came to a stop facing south on the west shoulder. It was not known why the driver lost control of his vehicle. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident.
The sophomore started in 27 basketball games last season. His family held a public reception over the weekend.
